Michael Luwe is a veterinarian by profession and has been working with the Department of Animal Health and Livestock Development for more than 15 years. He has been involved in planning, monitoring and implementing of various livestock activities; disease surveillance and monitoring, antimicrobial resistance surveillance and stewardship, and provision of veterinary services to smallholder farmers. He is a registered epidemiologist with the African Society of Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), Antimicrobial stewardship fellow of the University of Edinburgh’s Edinburgh Infectious Diseases, an adjunct Assistant Lecturer at Mzuzu University, a registered veterinarian with the Malawi Board of Veterinary Surgery, and a member of the Malawi Veterinary Association. He has a great interest in Global One Health.
